That's My Daddy!

Today was a great Father's Day!  It started off with bacon sandwiches, church and then time with both of the father's in my life.  For years, we have had my dad over to cook steaks.  This year was no different - just a little hotter!

This is the little treat the Primary children made for their dads - well, most of it!  Behind the cute hand drawn portrait of their father was a chocolate chip cookie!

And then it was time for a feast!  Ribeyes and baked potatoes with a cookie cake for dessert.

Of course my father, William Carrol "Buddy" Mumford, took his pound cake to go!

Me and Bud!  He's happily retired now after many years of working at Stemco.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get new pictures of the girls with their daddy, but here are a couple of my favorites!
Taylor and Carey dancing at Aunt Kimberlie's wedding.

Brooklyn and Carey at the Mud Hut for Taylor's 12th birthday party.  The lady asked everyone to raise their hand if they had never been there before!

Carey Wayne Eldridge, Sr. and the girls. This is our first Father's Day without Poppy.  He passed away on September 20, 2010.  Wish I had known this picture had been cut :(

And just to end the day with a few words about the importance of fathers:

“… By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. … (A Proclamation to the World)

My Family

So here we are!

As the cousins in Rowlett call us "those Eldridge's"!  I'm very proud of this group of people.  We are not perfect by any means, but boy do we LOVE each other!  My dear friend, April Graves, took this family picture late last year.  It's embarassing to admit, but the last time we had family pictures made was when Taylor was 1 year old.  YIKES!  She's 16 now and Brooklyn is 11, and you can wander how young the parents are!  Check out April's website here - especially if you're in the Texarkana area!

Our Sweet Taylor!

And Our Dear Brooklyn (or better known as "B"!)

And We Can't Forget About Augustus McCrae (yes, we've become those people!)

Taylor will be a Junior this school year.  WHAT?  Where has the time gone??  She is the newest driver in our family (I keep a prayer in my heart always) and is a great Longview High School Viewette.  Wish I could say I taught her everything she knows, but I think I owe that to Dottie Hunt School of Dance.  She started taking dance lessons at 2 years old.  She has shuffle stepped her way to where she is now!  I took more pictures and videos of high kickers that WEREN'T Taylor that first year - I mean, they all look the same way out there, all high kicking with that red lipstick stain.  I promise to do better this year and only take pictures of my own child!

Brooklyn will be going into 6th grade, or as I used to make sure everyone knew, "Junior High School", thank you very much!  She too has taken dance lessons since the age of 2 and has just recently started taking at Fusion Dance in Longview. She is also on the competitive team!  Again, I owe Dottie Hunt.  Brooklyn is also my most tender hearted and concerned child.  She's a pretty neat freak too!  She started cleaning at 18 months -seriously!  We were attending my niece's baby shower and B proceeds to wipe the host's floor with her hand as soon as we walked in the door!  By the time we left, the ladie's house had been dusted.  True story!

Carey is such a hard worker and smart man.  He is so concerned with our well being and wants the girls to have everything he didn't.  That can be good AND bad!  He's a hoot to hang out with and always makes us laugh.  It's been a good 20 married years (some better than others!), considering we met on a blind date!  I really do love him.

I am brand new to the blogging world, but I think I'm gonna like it!  Finding the time to update it may be another story!
