Ponder This

So my best friend, Christina Summerlin, and her family came to spend the weekend with us.  They live in Ponder, a teeny weeny little town just outside of Denton.  Kevin, her husband, and Carey were high school friends (class of '86, Tatum).  Christina and I have known each other for 20 years!  We were pregnant together with our girls - Taylor and Erin, 16.  Taylor is only 6 days older than Erin.  Kevin and Christina also have Emily, 14, and Jacob, 12.

Anyway, we decided to try out our cameras.  Christina has a Canon Rebel and I have a Nikon D5100 - yeah, battle of the cameras!  Jacob hung out with the dad's and the girls went to a local park and downtown Longview for our fabulous photo shoot!  Sad thing is, we don't know enough about our cameras to be considered truly knowledgeable, BUT we think our pictures turned out pretty good.  Check them out!

Me and Christina.  These chairs were in the alley by some trash cans (check out the black one later on).  We're in our 40's so we can take broken down chairs and use them like this!  Christina's a little dumpster diver anyway.  She has some beautiful furniture pieces that were FREE!!

Taylor, Emily & Erin

Brooklyn and Taylor

I love this vine.  Taylor had her Sweet 16 pictures taken at this park and this vine was one of the props.  Kendal Jessup did a fabulous job with Taylor's pictures!

Sisters!

Erin and Taylor.  Erin loves Taylor's elbow!

Erin again!

Whoa!  Somebody stop me!  This is Emily.

Christina took this one and I LOVE it!!

Love the trash cans!  Oh, and the black chair!  Notice anything??

Another Christina original!  One of these girls (I'm not giving away names), decided to perch herself on the crossing bar - or at least try to.  I'm not sure it was completely broken, but it sure was bouncy going back up :/

After looking for Emily's phone for a pretty good while, we discovered that my chair had eaten it.  Apparently that wasn't all that it hadn't eaten!  We literally had to take out the staples on the bottom fabric cover to retrieve her phone!

And more lost goodies!

Emily creeping on people in the Wal-Mart parking lot!

This weekend was also the Great Texas Balloon Race at the Gregg County Airport - the 34th year.  Can you believe we missed the balloon glow by about 5 minutes??  Thank you Taco Casa.  We had to settle for the baby balloon :(

Another great weekend with friends.  We stayed up until 2:00 a.m. talking!  I sure do wish we lived closer together.  The closest we have ever lived to each was Overton when the girls were little and Emily was just a baby.  I'll never forget when I went over to visit and Christina had painted her baby toe nails red.  Oh my gosh - that was when we both had mini-vans!!  Now we both have Expeditions (again).  And we're both married to Ford men!

I will have to find some old pictures and post them in my Oldies But Goodies section!

Later!

Hot Time in the City!

Last week was vacation - sort of!  My dear friend from high school, Jeanette Davis Cobb, showed us how to tile our backsplash.  Like I've said before, remodeling our kitchen has taken a long time and this was just another step.  I loved putting up the backsplash and had to kick Carey out of the way.  He was assigned to stain the upper cabinets so he would leave me alone!  Here's a sneak peak:

By the end of the week we were ready to get out of town.  We started with dropping off Gus at the cousin's house in Rowlett.  Kamden and Kaden were getting ready for some football!

Maybe we'll see these boys here one day!

This picture was taken from the Ranger's Ballpark!

Of course both tours started in the Pro-Shop.  FYI - self paced tours are $17.50 each.

Yep!  You're seeing that right!  Dionne Sanders jersey.  Emmitt's was only $243.00.  But remember, tax is included!!

On the way to Dallas, we stopped at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Terrell.  I am not a shopper, so Carey took the girls to the Nike store.  I vaguely remember a conversation about a $6 shirt.  This must be that shirt.  That's what I get for sending a man to shop!

Now that's what I call lights!

He was just pretending to run onto the field.....really!

Big AND clear!

In the cheerleader's locker room. Those uniforms can not be comfortable!

Thought this was a cool name!

The grandpa tour guide was determined to take a family picture.  Awkward...

Had to take a picture of the restroom/showers.  Got to be the cleanest mens room (for now!)  Note to self - turn off flash when taking a picture of tile.  Another note to self - learn how to turn off flash.

Landry the man!

Now onto some baseball!

Hmmm.....I really hope his co-workers didn't tell him he missed a spot or anything like that!  That would be rude.

Beautiful!  37,360 in attendance!  No wonder there was a slight problem with parking!

They still make Gulf??  I didn't know that!

Colby Lewis

Taylor's favorite.  Ian Kinsler.

Josh Hamilton.  B's favorite.  He's eating sunflower seeds.  Those pants are going to need some Shout!

Bases were loaded and I can't remember the outcome.  I know it wasn't a grand slam :(

She was over my picture taking!

We were soooo hot.

And we WON!!  12-2

And we ended the night with some fireworks!

What a week!  After spending the night at Kim's we went to Ikea.  It overwhelmed my family!!  I had only been there once before, but I sitll love it.  It wouldn't hurt if they scattered benches throughout the store - you know, for breaks!

Until next time.....
